Joe Sestak: A Modern Marvel

Of course I'm referring to Marvel comics characters.

This week I got to see the new Iron Man 2 movie. Robert Downy Junior plays Tony Stark as a man with an insatiable ego and the need to be the center of attention. He also has an amazing amount of drive and energy. This reminded me of Sestak.

However, Tony Stark is basically a decent person, interested helping humanity. He also doesn't yell and scream at his staff, or act in anger.

For this we need another creation from the mind of Marvel: The Hulk. He is the personification of mindless rage, and you never know what might set him off. Like.....Google Maps!!

  2. Dr. Doom. Yes. Exactly. I wish I thought of that.

  3. David,

Can you post some more specifics on the fact that Sestak's wife isn't even registered to vote in PA (not that that shocks me in the slightest, she never seemed terribly interested in anything going on in the district)?

I'm also curious about the revelation that Joe still isn't even living in the district either. I knew he was renting in the summer of 2006 (thanks Bill Walsh for that tidbit), but figured he probably bought at least a condo by now.

  4. George-
Lady Sestak and Joe got an apartment in Nether Providence in 2006. Joe (and his family) changed their registrations from no-party to Dem. Yes, the most of the rest of his family were not Dems.
Joe also changed his registration from his parents' house to the apartment. Joe's wife registered in PA for the first time.
Joe's wife voted in 2006 Primary and General elections.

After Joe won, they bought a house in Edgmont. Joe changed his registration to that address in 2007. Joe's wife dropped her PA registration and hasn't voted in PA since.

The two have also maintained (and really live in) their house in Virginia that they've owned since 1998. To my knowledge, Joe's daughter goes to school in Virginia and Mrs. Sestak retains her job for some defense-related company.

I have heard (but not visited to confirm it) that Joe's Edgmont house is where Joe's brother lives (or rents?). I guess Joe probably bunks there when he's in town.

Joe's every bit the carpetbagger that Santorum was.

  5. David,

Some more research on the carpetbagging issue:

    1) Joe’s residence in the 7th district in Newtown Square is a condo, attached on both sides to other residences. It shares a driveway with one of the other adjoining units.

    2) Joe’s residence in Alexandria, VA, is a beautiful two-story clapboard home, with two chimneys, and is surrounded by trees.

    3) Sestak’s most recent financial disclosure puts his net worth between $1.8MM – $3MM.

You think he would be able to afford more than just a token residence in the district he claims to represent.

    Here are the primary sources:

    * Sestak's information is towards the bottom; GoogleMap the two addresses, you'll see the difference in the homes.

    * Joe's financial disclosures, starting in 2006.
